Traveling the World with a Dog: This is Sonia Vainshtein’s Journey from Russia to Argentina and Beyond.

From Childhood Dreams to Nomadic Reality

For Sonia Vainshtein, traveling the world with her dog was more than a dream – it was a lifelong commitment. Growing up in Russia surrounded by dogs, she always imagined exploring the world with her four-legged companion by her side. When the pandemic hit, Sonia faced a choice: stay stuck or find a way to make international travel with her dog possible.

The Challenge of Flying with a Big Dog

Most airlines only allow dogs up to eight kilos in the cabin. Sonia’s dog weighed 19 kilos, making things far more complicated. When she planned her move from Bulgaria to Argentina, she realized she needed a creative solution. Through research, persistence, and determination, she discovered the option of service dog certification. It became the key to relocating without being forced to leave her dog behind.

    Turning Struggles into a Business

What began as a personal journey soon turned into a mission to help others. Sonia started sharing her knowledge about documentation, airline policies, and the maze of rules that vary from country to country. Requests from friends turned into clients, and step by step she built a business that now helps nomads and families relocate with their dogs. From guiding people through certification processes to preparing them for airport procedures, Sonia has turned her hard-won expertise into a valuable service.

    Heartwarming Stories of Reunion

Beyond logistics, Sonia’s work is deeply emotional. In this episode she shares the story of a family who had not seen their 60-kilo dog for four years. She helped reunite them across continents, creating a moment filled with joy and relief. These stories highlight the human (and canine) side of her work – proving that pet travel is about much more than paperwork.

Building a Global Community for Dog Owners

Looking ahead, Sonia envisions creating a worldwide platform where nomads with dogs can support one another. From knowing which vet to call in a new city to finding the best local food and walking spots, her goal is to build a network that makes life on the road easier for both pets and their owners.
